no_riskBOMA San Francisco Emergency Preparedness Committee has shared the following FRAUD ALERT:

We have been notified that fraudulent invoices are being mailed to tenants throughout the Bay Area.  Don’t RISK IT.

For example, a tenant at one property received an invoice from a vendor named RMZ Fire Safety, with an address of 1555 Botelho Drive, #201, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.  The invoice is dated March 4, 2014 for “Annual State Required Fire Safety Equipment Inspection, Test, and Certification.”

The tenant brought it to the attention of the APM.  The APM searched Google for RMZ at that address only to find that it is actually a UPS store in Walnut Creek.  A company with the same name in La Verne, California had been sending out identical invoices, and was/is a subject of a mail fraud investigation.

Property Managers may wish to alert their tenants to be aware of this scam, and if they come across anything suspicious, to immediately let PMs know.
