Small Businesses Benefit from Section 179 Deduction With New HVAC Purchase

2021 is running out and that means it’s time for strategizing about taxes.  If you are a small business, you might want to consider improvements, such as replacing the HVAC – especially if maintenance has been lacking in recent years.

Fortunately, with the IRS Section 179 – accelerated depreciation, you not only can get a great write off for the HVAC but you are comfortable this winter and summer (depending on the equipment choices).

The IRS has this accelerated depreciation to help small businesses offset their taxes by making improvements to their business.  Because we are an HVAC company, we included the quote below (taken from the IRS website); the link will direct you to their site for more information.  Consult with your tax professional to see if you qualify for accelerated depreciation.  If so, please call us and we will be glad to help.

The TCJA amended the definition of qualified real property to mean qualified improvement property and some improvements to nonresidential real property, such as roofs; heating, ventilation and air-conditioning property; fire protection and alarm systems; and security systems. Revenue Procedure 2019-08 explains how taxpayers can elect to treat qualified real property as Section 179 property. (Source IRS.gov)
